What Is Salmiak? Salmiak is a distinct, pungent, salty, and sometimes bitter flavor derived from ammonium chloride, commonly known as sal ammoniac, which is used to flavor a type of candy called salty liquorice. This popular confectionery is found primarily in Nordic countries (such as Finland, Denmark, and Sweden), the Netherlands, and northern Germany. Salmiak is also used in other products, including cough syrups, pastries, meat dishes, and even some alcoholic drinks.

INGREDIENTS: Sugar, molasses, wheat flour, glucose-fructose syrup, licorice extract, ammonium chloride, vegetable oils (coconut, palm), modified corn starch and potato starch, gelatin, emulsifier (glyceryl monostearate), humectants (glycerol), salt, aroma.
